This is a list of public service and other radio frequencies used in our area (Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois). It is provided free-of-charge as a service to our customers, without warranty of any kind. It is not a complete, exhaustive list of all frequencies used in this area.
NOTE: Frequencies shown in NAVY BLUE are commonly-used business, MURS, GMRS or FRS frequencies. They are not usually assigned to just one business or individual, and are often used "itinerant" (i.e., non-stationary) with low-power handheld "walkie-talkies." They are included here simply because traffic is often heard on those frequencies.
WARNING: Monitoring of certain frequencies, use of monitoring equipment in certain areas or situations, and/or use or disclosure of information obtained through monitoring may be illegal or otherwise restricted in some areas. We do not advocate such use, and are providing this information only as a service to our customers. Use of frequencies in the high-UHF range is becoming more common. In many instances, the communications are digital, "spread-spectrum," involve "frequency-hopping" or "trunking", and require somewhat more sophisticated equipment to receive. The Uniden MR-8100 radio for which we market software is not capable of receiving these frequencies, so we are listing here only some frequencies we have monitored in this area using other monitoring equipment.
